"Vasudhaiva Kutumbakkam" is stated in the Maha Upanishad (Mahopanishad)
& is considered as the loftiest of Vedantic thought.
अयं बन्धुरयं नेति गणना लघुचेतसां उदारचरितानां तु वसुधैव कुटुम्बकं
Ayam bandhurayam neti ganana laghuchetasam udaracharitanam tu Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam
- Maha Upanishad (Ch.6, Verse 72)
Only small men discriminate saying-
One is a relative; the other is a stranger.
For those who live magnanimously the entire world constitutes but a family.
This verse goes beyond just peace and harmony - it underscores the truth that this entire Universe is but ONE COSMIC FAMILY.
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakkam is India’s gift to the world.
Such was its impact on India that this very verse of Maha Upanishad is engraved in the entrance hall of the Parliament of India.
